Any kind of mold from water damage left too long can potentially affect a person’s health in a number of ways. The symptoms people experience, may include allergies, illness, and sometimes death. One type of allergic reaction people have from mold in a milder form is Hay fever. This includes symptoms, such as nasal congestion and eye irritation. In addition, certain individuals break out in a rash. Others who are hypersensitive to mold, may have reactions that are more adverse than others are, such as a fever or shortness of breath.
On the other hand, people with compromised immune systems (elderly) or one that is not fully developed (infants), may die from the same kind of mold, or develop some type of chronic lung problems. As for those who already have some type of lung condition, this may give rise to an infection within their lungs. Therefore, people are advised to seek temporary housing at the first sign of mold until it is completely removed from their home. This however, is not always possible since some people are not aware of the mold, until they experience some type of symptom. In any case, people should never take the chance of continuing to live in a place when they are aware of the presence of mold.
In some situations, people think selling their home provides a quick solution for their problem. However, this is not the case. Anyone considering this, should put themselves in the shoes of the buyer and how it would feel to learn the home you were sold had a problem with mold. In addition, mold lowers the value of a person’s home and no one would want to pay a high price for a home that came with a mold problem. Therefore, you are better off paying to fix the problem than trying to bail out by selling the problem to someone else.
There are a number of ways to take care of the problem with mold. One of the solutions involves cleaning out the problem yourself. On the other hand, if you do not want to then hire a mold removal company.
Another consideration is for those who are not homeowners. Anytime you rent a place and find a problem with mold, this is not something that you should be handling yourself. Any type of mold from water damage is something your landlord is responsible for. Therefore, they should take care of the problem, or you should move out or contact the city about the mess, since you never want to live with something that can hurt your long-term health.
